TIM (Tekline Information Manager) BUSINESS Version

With TIM BUSINESS we concentrate on the management of business documents. It incorporates the same functionality as TIM FREEware, TIM Standard and TIM Galleria, but with the added benefits of the assignments to topics of business documents such as Microsoft Word/Excel, Open Office Documents, Acrobat PDF, Web Documents etc; as well as security features and network record locking for network operation.

TIM Business does not play video or audio files as this is not to be expected in a business environment, but if this is required then TIM Enterprise will be what you will reguire.

Activating TIM Business for only £50

You will have downloaded TIM FREEware and may have already created a number of groups and associated topics. But you would like to take advantantage of the business document management features found in TIM Business.

You need to purchase a key code that will convert TIM FREEware to TIM Business. It only costs £50 (or equivalent currency) and you can purchase it online or send me a cheque for that sum to the address at the footer. A site license is available for a modest fee of £199, enabling you to use this version on as many computers in your workplace as you like, including a network drive.

Once you have purchased the key code(it does not matter where you live), the key code will be emailed to to you. Then all you have to do is simply click on Help at the top of TIM FREEware and select Register from the menu and then enter the key. TIM FREEware will automatically change itself to the TIM version you have paid for, in this case TIM Business, and away you go. It can't get any simpler than that.

Using TIM Business

Having purchased your key for TIM Business for (£50) as soon as this is entered in the registration box, your TIM FREEware becomes TIM Business. All that you have created remains untouched. However, TIM Business has changed the screen layout by having added a kind of browser functionality at the top of the screen. I will explain more about this in the tutorial below. However, I would recommend that you look at the TIM FREEware, TIM Standard and TIM Galleria tutorials as they are all applicable in TIM Business.

What is new is that TIM Business has the ability attach, view and manage a wide range of business documents that is linked to a Topic, such as Microsoft Office documents, Sun Open Office documents, Acrobat PDF documents and web documents. There is also a custom option to load and run any other business document or even a program file and execute it. TIM Business can also be run over a network as network record locking is built-in into the program. There are also some security functionality as well, such as being able to password protect a document so that nobody else using the program can view the document.

More Types when creating a Topic

In TIM Galleria, when creating a Topic we had two Types to choose from set by two icon buttons. Clicking on either one and the type number associated with the button and the kind of topic created would be inserted. Then you type in the topic name as normal and then save in the normal way.

When you add a topic in TIM Galleria there were two Type buttons. With TIM Business there are seven.
