Many years ago I started to develop TIM (Tekline Information Manager), and since then it has gone through a number of transformations as technology and changing desktop environments have progressed. Today with a derth of programs available with multimedia, web and flash technology readily available, the need for a product that can handle all of these and keep control of your information is even more important now.

TIM is perhaps the most versatile and useful program you will ever use. It can be adapted for any requirement where information needs to be managed. And depending upon what version of TIM you use it does not matter what form that information takes. TIM Enterprise can handle practically any kind for information. For example, besides textual information TIM Enterprise can manage and view movie files, audio files, graphic files, Microsoft or Open Office documents, Acrobat pdf files and more... the list is endless.

As for what you can use TIM for it can be an ideas processor, for visualizing and organizing ideas. Hobbyists will find that they will be able to store their hobbyist notes, including pictures etc. If your hobby is stamps for example, besides keeping notes about a particular stamp, and showing a photo of the stamp in the Thumbnail Box, you can open the picture up, view it and use the magnifying option to view it closer. Similary, for sales people who handle lots of products, those products with pictures can be managed easily. TIM is the perfect Product Manager, I know because I have used it that way.

TIM is a universal application that can be used for anything that uses information. TIM can be used as an Expert System or a Knowledge Base. I used it for keeping track of my programming code, tips etc. At my last employer, I used TIM to keep track of my management documents, logging meetings, minutes etc. Researchers in any field will be able to manage all their research material whatever it is. Authors could use it to plan and write their book. You could keep a record of diet information with recipes. You could keep a membership file for a club. In fact there as so many uses for TIM that I could write a book listing what TIM could be used for - but it would never be finished because the possibilites for TIM are endless.

There are currently SIX versions of TIM that are targeted for certain needs. More will follow. All versions share common features to the TIM FREEware version, but have additional enhancements that are directed towards their target usages.

TIM FREEware is very versatile and easy to use. Simply click on the Group Manager Button and create a group on any subject you like. Save the Subject Group and you will be ready to add as many Topics associated with the group you have just created. To add a Topic go to the Topics Editing console to the right of the screen and click on the New button. Enter the title of your Topic, either paste from another application you may have opened, for example a webbrowser and paste it into the Quick Notes box, or alternatly use the open file button to load the notes from an external file. Save the Topic and that's it. Easy peasy.

TIM Standard is all that TIM FREEware is but we now go to the next level of innovatation and flexibility. For only £10 (or equivalent other currencies) you get a whole lot more.

You will have access to the built-in word processor where you can use mixed fonts and sizes, insert pictures and weblinks and you have the ability to transfer the text from your Quick Notes. In addition you can customise TIM Standard with themes to enhance your experience. You can also change the title of the opening splash screen, which means that you create multiple TIM applications on your computer that deal with different subjects.

TIM Galleria incorporates both TIM FREEware and TIM Standard. For only £20 (or equivalent other currencies) TIM Galleria has an additonal feature that is extremely useful.

If you recall TIM Standard can embed photos in the built-in word processor, but TIM Galleria has the ability to store photos independently and linked to a Topic. The photos will be previewed on the main screen in the "thumbnail screen", the image box at the top right hand of the screen that currently shows the Tekline logo. In addition, on clicking the thumbnail screen, the photo will open up full size, and you can even magnify areas of the picture.

TIM Multimedia has all the benefits of TIM Standard but with additional features geared for those interested in playing movies, audio files or to show photos. It uses a special version of TIMVideo linked to TIM. (£35 or equivalent currency).

The Thumbnail Screen currently shows the Tekline Logo. If wish to keep a list of photos, the photos you have attached to the topics will be shown here. Clicking on the thumbnail screen will open up the photo full-screen and if you wish to, there is a magnifying zoom option that you can use to see a close up of part of the image on display.

Note that each topic now has a unique icon associated with what the topic is all about. In addition you can filter what you see but pressing the filter button to show, for example movie files.

TIM Business has all the benefits of TIM Standard but with additional features that help businesses to organise their business documents, spreadsheets etc.

For only £50 (or equivalent other currencies) you get even more enhancements. TIM Business is so flexible that you can use for just about any business application. Sales can use it for keeping a track of their product portfolio, receptionists can use it for having at hand staff information. Technical staff can record company computer equipment information, or programmers can store their snippets of code, or even entire code for a project. Support staff can log fault logs and solutions. Expert Systems can easily be created accessed across an entire networ. Managers can log all their meetings, minutes that have been recorded, staff information, PAs can keep track of their letters. You can maintain a list of websites far better than browser favourites/bookmarks can do or even run any application with TIM Business acting like a desktop ... the options are endless.

You can password protect internal documents and you can link a topic directly to the popular business applications such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) or Open Office, Acrobat PDF, Web links etc. Each topic has a unique icon associated with what the topic is all about. In addition you can filter what you see but pressing the filter button to show, for just Word documents. Networking record locking built-in so that you can install TIM business on a network drive and share it with other users.

You will notice with TIM Business that there are additions to the main screen, compared to previous versions of TIM. There is a webbrowser tool bar. This is used to link to the Tekline Web Browser (with TIM link button) and is based upon the Microsoft Internet Explorer webbrowser engine that is installed on you Windows operating system.

Included are a number of special utilities to backup your data and the program has a built-in file manager enabling you to manage your files more efficiently.
TIM Business is truly THE BUSINESS.
