While developing TIM (Tekline Information Manager) beyond the free version I wanted to add a function that could play all kinds of media files such as video, music and to view photos etc. In the end, after looking at some commercial and freeware applications which lacked the facilities that I wanted, I wrote my own and Tekline Universal Media Player is the result. Although incorporated into TIM Enterprise (not the freeware version of TIM) I have decided to give Tekline Universal Media Player for free for personal use as a gift from me to you. It must not be used for within business or corporate settings without permission from Fred Harding.

I plan in due course to extend the capabilities of Tekline Universal Media Player, and with these extra facilities to sell the program for a small charge. If you use the free version of the program you will be able to upgrade to this version without losing your videos, audio files or pictures in your playlist directory.

I would be grateful if you use the free version of Tekline Universal Media Player that you might consider a donation by hitting on the donation button of the program, but you are not under obligation to do so. But if you do, it will help me develop this and other programs, some that are free, as I am now self-employed and any revenue I earn is through my software that I develop, my website development and other services that I provide.

"Tekline Universal Media Player is an application designed to play more than just videos, it is also able to play audio files and to display picture files. All the supported media formats cover most of the file formats currently used worldwide.

The interface of the application is not very elegant but at least it gets the job done providing access to all the available controls in the main player window. A Flash video test can be done from the same window, a test that will verify your system installed video codecs and whether Flash videos can be played.
